HUSHROOMS - SPACES OF NONVERBAL COMMUNICATION

The Hushrooms are pavilions for outdoor spaces in which interpersonal communication is explored, trained and intensified. Non-verbal signals in particular promote values such as commitment, empathy and a sense of community, which are increasingly weakened by digitality and spatial distance.

The pavilions offer the opportunity to focus on this exchange. In order to make the experience accessible to the general public they do so without the external help of a moderator or visual instructions. The impetus for interaction is provided by spatial structures only.

RESOLUTION 217 A (III)

Some gestures, such as the deep bow, are used in many contextes. No matter what cultural, political or ritual background - they all use the same movement.

This installation was part of an exhibition at the State Theatre Mainz in 2019. As a reaction on the play "Status" by british author and performer Chris Thorpe, our group focused on questions about nationality, statehood, affiliation and identity.

english translation:

All men are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should treat each other in a spirit of brotherhood.

In the yoga exercise Balasana, the yogi kneels on the mat and places his upper body forward.

In the Japanese tea ceremony, the host welcomes his guests kneeling, with a deep bow.

During Muslim prayer, the person praying kneels on a carpet and touches the floor with his forehead and palms.

LUFTHANSA INNOVATION OFFICE

Interior design concept for the Innovation Section of Lufthansa Systems on the Aviation Campus at Raunheim near Frankfurt a.M.

There were inserted three structures in the old building of a former leather factory: a clean, light regular workingplace area, an orange glowing meeting room and kitchen and the shadow-areas: cavernous, soft, quiet and relaxing. The radiative distribution comes from the egg-shaped glass artwork in the courtyard. Transparent and reflecting at the same time, this is an inspiring object in which not only the employees on the other side but also the airplanes are reflected on multiple layers.

BODY ARCHITECTURE

Inspired by the human spine, the glowing spikes symbolize it's strength and essential function for our body. The sculpture is only attached at the front and moves freely with the user's motions. The largest spine is 30 cm long and is located between the shoulder blades, where the three strands meet.

FÄN.

The family of pendant, table and floor lamp is made of LINAR, a slotted and thus bendable wood-based material by the swiss company dukta. By gently modifying the cut structure, we got the conical shape.

The lamp is delivered in a flat pack in individual parts: polystyrol lamp shade, bulb holder with textile cable and the connecting screws/clip.

fän. was exhibited at the "Passagen", Cologne in 2017
and won the Design prize Rhineland-Palatinate in 2019
